Swimming!

Here at Normandale School, we are so lucky to have our own swimming pool and be able to get in the water most days.

We are mainly working on water confidence and safety, however, some of us are very confident and are showing great skill in diving beneath the water to retrieve items or swim through the hoops.

Everyone is showing great improvement in their kicking with the flutter board and moving of their arms to help them move forward!

I am very much looking forward to seeing you develop your skills and build confidence in the water!

Cricket!

Normandale School is super lucky to be able to provide it students with an opportunity to learn cricket skills! We have a wonderful teacher, Matt, who comes every Thursday and teaches us skills which we can then use to play many different sports, especially cricket!

We have learn how to catch, throw and bowl, as well as a few new games which we can now include in our daily fitness routine!

Thank you so much Matt, we look forward to the next few weeks and learning more ball skills.

On Tuesday we had a visit from a fury little friend called Molly! Thank you so much to Lydia and her family who brought Molly in to meet us and let us all have a wee cuddle :) Check out the cuteness below...

Room 1 Superhero of the day!

Here in Room 1, Mrs Manabe has her very own Superhero!

The superhero is the special helper for the day, they have many responsibilities and best of all, they get to take our resident teddy Silvie home for the evening. The superhero is to either take photos or draw a picture of the adventures which they have with Silvie and then write a short story explaining this.

The superhero shares his/her story with the class and then picks a new name out of the hat to be the new superhero!

Wow! What a great first day we had! The rain definitely didn't damper our spirits!

We spent the morning getting to know one another and the expectations which Mrs Manabe has for her scholars.

We had a tour of the school boundaries reminding us of the areas we are allowed to explore and which areas are a no-go zone!

Our first day together was definitely a fun one and an opportunity to get creative and decorate our walls. We wrote a Treaty together which we all signed using our handprints and our photos were taken in preparation for our self portraits... watch this space :)
